Background

Regred Corth is seventh of the nine children of Baron Grey Telan Corth and his Baroness Caila. The Corth family was only relatively recently titled, Telan’s father, Edbar, having done a great service to House Grey; though the title came without any land. The family has a long history of Sorcery, which can be traced back for generations through Telan’s side of the family. Telan is, however, the first in that long line to have spawned such a great number of offspring. This is due to Regred’s mother, Caila, is from a culture which values large families. Caila Corth, herself a Sorcerous, is from a distant land and little more of her background is known, even to Telan. Telan met her during his Time of Wandering and brought her back as his bride.

On the surface, Regred Corth is a very average young man. A human of approximately five foot, eight inches and 150 pounds, with deep brown, shoulder length hair, and blue eyes. He is quite unremarkable in appearance, and his tendency to wear the most common style clothing means he blends into most crowds. While on the road, Regred wears close fitting traveling cloths, in grey and black tones. He carries a well worn quarterstaff, the same one his sister Kayra used during her Time of Wandering, and sports a few daggers here and there. Eschewing the familiar which most sorcerers have, Regred has discovered the elusive technique of applying metamagic to his spells without incurring the normal penalty associated with such feats.

Regred has little use for politics and religion, having spent his life dedicated to his studies. Though the powers of Sorcery runs deep within his bloodline, it generally does not manifest itself until adolescence, then takes many years for the practitioner to learn to do anything useful with it. Regred has discovered he is, much like his father and grandfather, more strongly attuned to evocation magic. Though his parents have certainly achieved admirable heights in their careers, Regred considers them failures compared to the might of his grandfather Edbar, whose power was epic before he mysteriously disappeared, leaving Telan to look after the newly acquired nobility. Kayra looks to be following in their grandfathers footsteps (though her strengths are in the summoning arts), and Regred looks to her as his role-model. Though the rules of the Wandering forbid direct intervention or other assistance by older family members, Regred independent nature means he would not have accepted such help anyway.
